According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President spoke while receiving the United States Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

On his recent warning to African countries against doing business with China, Tillerson said the warning was not meant to stop Chinese investments from flowing to countries that needed such investments.

Mr Tillerson, a former chief executive of ExxonMobil, was only appointed to the job just over a year ago.

The Punch newspaper reported that President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed the desire of the Federal Government to have the schoolgirls abducted by the Boko Haram sect from Chibok and Dapchi back alive.

"First, we respect the responsibilities of the government of Nigeria and the territorial integrity of Nigeria".

"We will also support opportunities to expand the economy, commercial investments, and peaceful polls in 2019", he added.

The Guardian said US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Monday slammed last month's mass abduction of schoolgirls in northern Nigeria and promised Washington's "full support" in the country's fight against Boko Haram jihadists.

"The United States is very much engaged in the coordinated effort (of the Combined Multinational Force), both in equipment and training and in advice and information".

He said, "With regards to the kidnapped girls in Dapchi, it is incorrect to say we took a week to acknowledge".

"Fighting terrorism is a new challenge globally".

"That was a situation where you have a classical military confrontation and Boko Haram were capturing territory, holding unto territory and hoisting flags".
