The University of Oklahoma appointed James Gallogly as its 14th president in school history on Monday morning, and he didn't waste time endearing himself to fans.

Gallogly, the namesake for OU's engineering college, spent nearly 30 years serving in executive roles in the oil industry, including ConnocoPhillips.

OU President David Boren will retire June 30th contingent on the selection of a successor.

In these first hours after being named the new president of the University of Oklahoma, it is very important to me to reach out to our loyal donors and season ticket holders of the Sooner Club.

Facebook ads apologise for Cambridge Analytica scandal
Zuckerberg said an app built by a university researcher "leaked Facebook data of millions of people in 2014". We'd expect it to contend that it had only limited involvement with the data despite Nix's management.

Rowdy Gilbert, senior associate vice president for Public Affairs at OU, said he can not confirm or deny who will be the next president at the university. "I'm a little concerned that he doesn't have the educational background that President Boren did".

He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado and has a law degree from OU. In fact, our Gallogly Family Foundation has been a major benefactor for which the OU Gallogly College of Engineering and Gallogly Hall are named.

Most recently, Gallogly has served as chief executive officer of LyondellBasell Industries N.V., a plastics, chemicals and refining company with headquarters in Houston. He also worked as an executive with ConocoPhillips, Chevron Phillips Chemical Company and Phillips Petroleum Company, and earlier practiced law with a private firm in Denver.
