Prosecutors Not Opposed to Freeing Rapper Meek Mill
The Philly D.A. reportedly won't contest the Dreams & Nightmares rapper's release on bail.
Mill, 30, discussed a potential move to Atlanta in a new interview with Rolling Stone - his first jailhouse interview since Judge Genece Brinkley sentenced him to two to four years in jail in November for probation violations. The decision to release him on bail ultimately rests with Brinkley. Prosecutors point out hundreds of previous convictions have already been overturned, and they think Meek will follow suit, shortly.
On Wednesday The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office has submitted a filing to Mill's lawyers stating that "there is a strong showing of likelihood" of his conviction being reversed, in whole or in part. Therefore, the Commonwealth is unopposed to (Mill's) petition for bail... They issued accusations against him by other officers.
Krasner took office in January and was recently made aware of the corruption, which the previous D.A. kept secret.
The officers on the list are deemed unfit to testify in court due to a history of unethical or illegal behavior such as lying, assaulting citizens, and being racist.

The district attorney's office based its decision on the fact that the appeal was unlikely to be settled within six months and the DA has a policy not to request more than six to 12 months for probation and parole violations. She will hear arguments on Meek's case at his Post Conviction Relief Hearing on April 16. "I truly believe justice will prevail".
Mill was re-incarcerated at the end of 2017 for three alleged probation violations: an arrest for driving his dirt bike in New York City and broadcasting it on Instagram (later dismissed), an arrest for scuffling with overly-aggressive fans in the St. Louis Airport (also dismissed), and a positive urine test for Percocet.
