Pizza Hut's Pizza-Ordering Sneakers are Back for March Madness
I'm not here to tell you why pizza-ordering, TV-pausing shoes exist.
Pizza Hut, the official pizza of NCAA March Madness, is delivering a hot sequel to their first Pie Tops sneaker from a year ago with some added toppings. As some may recall, Pie Tops sneakers were actually introduced back in 2017.
The Pie Tops are billed as "smart shoes" due to the tech built into them. That said, the kicks do allow the wearer to order their favorite pizza thanks to the magic of Bluetooth connectivity (and your mobile device) simply by pressing a button on the tongue of the right sneaker. It's hard to say, but in that future, perhaps we'll ALL be wearing Pie Tops. The game is paused using your DVR receiver, and the shoes are compatible with receivers from Spectrum, DirecTV, XFiniy, Dish, and Fios.

Pizza Hut hopes the "really big shoe" will call attention to its efforts lately, including voice command ordering, a text messaging pizza tracker and the Hut Rewards, program. The list of special features is comical: "Extreme marinara splash, cheese grater mesh, branded Pizza Hut lace tags, extra "cheese pull" laces, and branded inner soles". Furthermore, multiple size options will be available. Take note, however, that the shoes will only come in a limited run.
Unlike last year's model that was limited to a select few sent out as promotional pairs, this year's version will be offered as a limited release to the public and will be available through HBX the week of March 19. The company will also be giving away 50 pairs via social media and others via a raffle at Final Four Fan Fest.
The sneakers will be sold via Hypebeast, though the actual price of the Pie Tops II has yet to be disclosed. Keep your eyes on the Pizza Hut Twitter account as well as their Instagram page in the coming days for more details.
