Delta police and other agencies are searching for an 80-year-old man believed missing after boarding a BC Ferry Thursday night.

When the ferry docked and unloaded, staff found a vehicle with no driver in it on the auto deck.

The case has now been turned over to the Delta Police Force.

The Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre was called and launched a search of the ferry route and surrounding areas for any sign of the passenger, but the effort was called off at 8 a.m.

The man is thought to be from Vancouver Island, she said.
