Polestar 1 Configurator and Pre-Ordering Open in 18 Countries
Its first creation in this new era is the Polestar 1, the company's first, and last, hybrid auto - with the upcoming 2 and 3, as well as all subsequent models, set to be electric only.
Previously, interested parties could only signal their intention to purchase a Polestar 1 by registering their details on Polestar's website.
Potential UK buyers of the electrified machine can secure a place in the production queue with a €2,500 (circa £2,220) deposit, which is fully refundable should any minds change.
Although it may be built on Volvo's Scalable Platform Architecture, and bear more than a passing resemblance to the S90 coupe concept, roughly 50 per cent of the vehicle is new and bespoke to Polestar. You can also play with the new auto configuration tool to build it out the way you'd want it before you place your pre-order.
The Polestar 1 is an Electric Performance Hybrid GT coupé which produces 600 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque, while offering 150 km of pure electric driving range - the longest of any hybrid auto in the world. According to the Swedish brand, more than 7,000 people registered their interest since the reveal of the Polestar 1 last fall.

The manufacturer has also made available a configurator for the Polestar 1 in the following regions: China, United States, Sweden, Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Portugal, Poland, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and Canada. Polestar is also looking at traditional outright sales.
Initially Polestar was planning a limited run of only 1,500 cars, set to be built at the brand's new facility in Chengdu, China.
Polestar started out life as an independent race team competing with Volvo cars.
The combo makes for a total output of 600 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque, with the range achievable in electric mode reaching as much as 150 km (93 miles).
