At the yesterday's Chinese event, the company mentioned the Vivo APEX to enter the production in second half of 2018.

The Vivo APEX carries on from the trend that was started with the Vivo X20 Plus UD smartphone with a fingerprint sensor under the screen.

Not only that, the APEX has a whopping 91 percent screen-to-body ratio.

At the CES 2018, Vivo showcased the world's first smartphone with an under-display fingerprint sensor. And to achieve this feat Vivo has embedded both the proximity and ambient sensors under the display.

Needless to say, the Vivo APEX will first go on sale in China, but we are hoping that it comes to Indian market as well. The top and side bezels measure just 1.8mm thick, and the bottom bezel measures 4.3mm thick.

Moreover, thanks to the SoundCasting Technology, this phone screen also doubles up as an earpiece and a loudspeaker, as it produces vibrations through the display to emit audio. The whole display will work as an earpiece, similar to the Xiaomi Mi MIX from 2016.

Vivo, according to the report by ItHomes, has dubbed the under-the-glass fingerprint reader technology as "Half-Screen Fingerprint Scanning Technology", and it has the ability to recognise multiple fingerprints.

Androidcenteral is reporting that the Essential Phone 2 may come with a front facing camera that can pop out from the top of the frame, then get stored when not in use. The smartphone features a 5.99-inch OLED display and has 1.8 mm thin bezels on top, left and right. Talking about the display, Vivo is using an OLED panel on the APEX smartphone. Under the hood, the device comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Mobile Platform coupled with Adreno 630 GPU. For the music lovers, the Vivo APEX also sports a new System in Package (SIP) technology which integrates the DAC and the three operational amplifiers.

Essential's founder, Andy Rubin, proudly showed off on Twitter last week a patent granted to Essential that shows off a "pop-up" selfie camera, just like what we saw in the Apex. This is due to the fact that the phone has nothing but a screen on the front. The camera of the phone as per the company comes with Super HDR support with a dynamic range of up to 14 EV.
