Jordy Nelson Reportedly Interested In Patriots Who Are Expected To'Make A Push To Sign Him

Nelson was released by the Packers on Tuesday after spending nine seasons with the team and Aaron Rodgers.

Days after being released by the Green Bay Packers, the veteran wide receiver is moving toward a deal with the Oakland Raiders, according to multiple reports.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson (87) goes through warmup before the NFL pre-season football game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, in Pittsburgh. The person says Oakland is also cutting ties with Crabtree after three seasons, leaving Nelson and Amari Cooper as the team's starters. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the signing hadn't been announced by the team.

Following his scheduled visit with the Raiders, Nelson was reportedly set to sit down with the Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints.

Wide Receiver Michael Crabtree Is Visiting Ravens Friday
That decision was likely made easier by the fact that cutting him will not cost the Raiders any dead money against the salary cap. After enjoying one of the most productive seasons of his career in 2016, Crabtree's numbers dropped off during the 2017 campaign.

And if Mourinho is courageous enough to deploy the same negative tactics on Saturday, he better pray that it pays off. He will also hope to see his team eradicate the mistakes which he said "were obvious" in the loss to United.

The Raiders also will likely be in the market for a possible replacement for released former starting right tackle Marshall Newhouse, and a running back if they decide not to bring Marshawn Lynch back for a second season. In January, Bennett had left Green Bay to join new head coach Jon Gruden as the Raiders' receivers coach.

Nelson had spoken to James Jones, a teammate in Green Bay who also played for the Raiders in Carr's rookie season.

In his career, Nelson has 550 catches for 7,848 yards and 69 touchdowns. His 97 catches, 1,257 yards and league-leading 14 touchdown grabs leading to a comeback player of the year award in 2016 definitely told the Raiders that he is beyond that ailment. Crabtree has a $7.7 million cap hit this season but can be cut without dead money.

The 30-year-old receiver spent the past two years in Oakland, playing in 46 games and recorded 232 receptions for 2,543 yards and 25 touchdowns.
