Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi admitted to Nanavati Hospital

Rajkumar Santoshi, the director of classic movies like Andaz Apna Apna, Damini among many others was admitted to Nanavati Hospital yesterday night after he complained about chest pains. The filmmaker has been admitted to the ICU.

Officials at Nanavati Hospital confirmed Santoshi's admission to the hospital, but refused to specify the treatment he was undergoing.

His spokesperson further added that the filmmaker will be under observation till Saturday morning.

It was also speculated that doctors performed angioplasty on him.

The Ghayal director was hospitalized when the entire film industry was attending the funeral and condolence meet of the veteran actress Sridevi.

Santoshi, who started his career as an assistant director for Govind Nihalani's Ardh Satya (1982), is known for delivering multiple hit films such as Ghayal, Damini and the cult comedy Andaz Apna Apna. On the work front, Rajkummar is now working with Randeep Hooda in his upcoming film based on Battle of Saragarhi. The film, as the title suggests, is based on 1897's Battle of Saragarhi, which was fought between the British Indian Army and Afghan Orakzai tribesmen. The film is called Kesari and it also features Parineeti Chopra.
