Ramji In BR Ambedkar's Name In All UP Documents Orders Yogi Adityanath
India's Dalit social reformer, whose full name is Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, is named as only BR Ambedkar in all official records.
In his letter to all government departments, Jitendra Kumar, principal secretary, general administration department, said that taking cognizance of the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution, where Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar's name is written as Dr Bhimrao Ramji Aambedkar, the government has "directed the authorities concerned to correct the name in all records, documents related to the government".
"I am a Marathi and so was he". The English spelling would remain unchanged.
The Yogi Adityanath-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh has chose to add "Ramji" as the middle name of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar in all state records, as signed by him on the pages of the constitution.

According to reports, Naik had in December 2017 written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath to change Ambedkar's name.
