Reaction: Duke assistant coach Jeff Capel heading to Pittsburgh

According to CBS' Jon Rothstein, Jeff Capel will take over head coaching duties at Pitt.

ESPN's Jeff Goodman also confirmed the news. Jeff Capel, a former Duke star, coached with the program for seven seasons including four seasons as an associate head coach.

He has been an assistant on Duke's staff since then and has taken over as the interim head coach on two occasions over the past two years. He later landed the Oklahoma head coaching job, leading the Sooners to two NCAA Tournament appearances in five years.

Capel, 43, has served as an assistant to Blue Devils coach Mike Krzyzewski since 2011. He is largely credited with Duke's ability to land top one-and-done prospects in recent years.

Pitt finished this season with a 8-24 record and 0-18 in ACC play.

Capel replaces Kevin Stallings, who was sacked after two seasons at the helm.
