Reliance Big TV is now offering free set-top box and HD channels for a year

An amount of Rs. 499 is charged to confirm the booking; with an additional Rs. 1,500 payable on receipt of the set-top box and outdoor unit.

Direct-to-home (DTH) player Reliance Big TV today announced to offer a free access to free-to-air channels up to 500 for five years and pay channels for one year across the country.

The second year onwards, subscribers will have to pay Rs300 a month to recharge their HD channels for two years, after which the entire amount will be credited back to the subscribers in the form of a subscription recharge.

Reliance Big TV stated that the company has come up with this offer to make a mark in the Indian DTH industry and also to fulfil the Indian government's Digital India initiative. Further, the company will also be providing a free of cost HD HEVC set-top box for which pre-booking is already open but for a limited period depending on the stock availability.

The HD HEVC STB offers schedule recording, a USB port, YouTube, and the ability to record and view channels simultaneously.

In fact, RCom had entered into an arrangement to migrate Reliance Big TV customers to Tata Sky.
