Kemerovo, a city of about half a million people, has been left reeling by the tragedy - one of the deadliest blazes in Russian Federation in recent years, according to state media. Numerous victims were children who died in a locked movie theater after making desperate calls for help.
"The fire alarm hadn't worked for a week".
Investigation continues. Forensic studies may take from four to five months, chief of Russia's Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin said.

The Investigative Committee is probing a Ukrainian blogger, Yevgeny Volnov, who posted his prank call to Kemerovo's morgue on YouTube, in which he was posing as an emergency official claiming that 300 people died in the fire.
Opposition leader Alexei Navalny accused the authorities of scapegoating outside forces instead of focusing on rampant official corruption.

Demonstrators at the March 27 gathering called for the regional leadership to be sacked, an unusual display of public frustration with authorities in a region where President Vladimir Putin secured 85 percent of the vote in his reelection less than two weeks ago.
Russian prosecutors have ordered checks into fire safety at all shopping centres with leisure facilities.
