School bans pupils from touching snow

Smith tried to defend the ban during an appearance on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, to no avail.

One video, in particular, shows young students at Alleyn Court Prep School frolicking in the snow and pelting their teachers with snowballs.

The hosts pressed the headteacher on his rules, where he succinctly explained: "The rules are: don't touch the snow".

A school has defended its controversial ban as protecting the students and the school after receiving social media criticism.

As schools throughout the United Kingdom contend with a fresh sheet of snow, one headteacher is taking a strict stand: students are banned from touching snow. "If you don't touch the snow you're not going to throw it", he added.

As the snow continues, hundreds of schools across the country have closed.

Smith has instead been labeled a "snowflake" by some on social media.

"I must be getting old, I agree with Ges Smith!"

Another person felt similarly and tweeted, "For crying out loud let em have some fun before they have to start paying taxes".

Host Piers Morgan was equally baffled by the headteacher's stance as his co-hosts - and questioned whether the school would produce children "unprepared for normal life".

Smith claimed that the ban protected the school from potential lawsuits, citing a "duty of care issue".

However, the headmaster also garnered solid support from a number of people, including parents at his own school. He's not banning children from snow altogether!

The changes, which saw longer school days on Mondays and a 1.30pm finish on Wednesdays, were met with anger from parents, who claim they were not consulted.

Another wrote, "No of course we shouldn't ban snow fun but I totally understand what this guy is saying".

Smith added that playing in the snow - which has blanketed much of the U.K.in a winter storm dubbed "The Beast From the East" - made children wet and "unfit for school".
