American Lung Association Finds That New Mexico Can do More to Reduce the Toll of Lung Cancer
"More must be done to save lives, and this new report serves as a powerful tool for identifying both needs and opportunities in every state to turn the tide against lung cancer".
Policymakers must take more action to save the lives of Americans, Executive Vice President of the American Lung Association, Upper Midwest region Lew Bartfield said in an email to The Badger Herald.
"The availability of more lung cancer screening sites will certainly increase screening access to patients of high risk", Brown said. "While our higher than average incidence rate is troubling, the MA public can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that our local medical professionals know how to spot and treat lung cancer, possibly better than anywhere else in the country".
"There will be more than 4,400 people in Wisconsin diagnosed with lung cancer and 3,000 will succumb to the deadly disease in 2018", Bartfield said.

"There's a lot of risk factors that go into lung cancer, smoking rate being one of them, and radon gas exposure, both of which are prevalent in ME". In New Mexico, only 17.8 percent of lung cancer cases were diagnosed at early stages, when it is most likely to be curable.
The report also finds that fewer Mainers are diagnosed in the early, more treatable stage of the cancer, than the national average. Though the report said both these statistics are "unfortunate".
