The ad was part of the application's "Would You Rather?" game, asking Snapchat users to choose between "punching" Brown or "slapping" Rihanna.
She wrote, "Now snapchat I know you already know you ain't my favourite app out there!" Rhianna wrote. "I'd love to call it ignorance but I know you ain't that dumb. You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV victims and made a joke of it".
"Shame on you" she goes on to say, "Throw the whole app-oligy away".
Snapchat shares dropped by almost 5 per cent after singer Rihanna has slammed the social media platform over an advertisement that sought to promote domestic violence and referenced her 2009 assault by Chris Brown.
The ad didn't sit well with the 30-year-old singer and many users on other social media platforms either, as it appears to refer to the 2009 domestic violence incident in which Chris Brown brutally assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna.
Chris Brown, 28, assaulted Rihanna, 30, in his vehicle on the eve of the 2009 Grammys, about a year into their relationship.
Snapchat deleted the advertisement, on Tuesday, and issued a statement and apology in an interview to BBC, stating, "The advert was reviewed and approved in error, as it violates our advertising guidelines". "Would You Rather" is now blocked from advertising there.
