VIRAL VIDEO: North Carolina student is only one from school to participate in Walkout day

As thousands of students across the country marched out of classrooms together, a student in a North Carolina high school stood alone in solidarity.

Blackman posted a video of his one-man walkout on Twitter, swivelling from side to side to show the empty area all around him.

Justin Blackman, 16, was the only one at Wilson Preparatory Academy, which is east of Raleigh, to participate in the nation-wide movement organized in the wake of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre in Florida. Some students used the walkout as a call to action for legislators to pass stricter gun control measures.

Blackman says he set an alarm for 9:58 a.m.

"I'm right next to you", actress Alyssa Milano tweeted.

"It's National School Walkout Day and I'm the only one at my school out here", he can be heard in the video.

"I prayed for the ones that died", he said.

"We are going to do it again on the 14th and they all said 'next month we are going to do it too'".

Shocked, Blackman took to Twitter to express his dismay, even though he thought few people would see his video.
