Ted Cruz releases country song mocking liberal candidate
The tweet came shortly after Rep. Beto O'Rourke, D-Texas, easily advanced to the November matchup.
However, the Republican senator also goes by a different name than his given name, Rafael Edward Cruz.
"Late Show" host Stephen Colbert on Thursday ripped Ted Cruz over his new political ad against Democratic challenger Beto O'Rourke-and offered his own jingle for the Republican congressman's 2018 Senate campaign.
The ad says O'Rourke "wants to take our guns" and calls him "liberal Robert", referring to his given first name, and says he "changed his name to Beto". You go by Ted.
"You know, look, your name is Rafael. You're both doing the same thing", he added. "It just stuck", he said in a brief phone interview Tuesday night.

O'Rourke said he has gone by "Beto" since he was born, CNN reported. "We can get into name-calling and talk about why the other person is such an very bad guy, or we can focus on the big things that we want to do for the future of our country".
