Lincecum has been working out at the Driveline baseball facility that has helped pitchers get their careers back on track. Lincecum is expected to work as a reliever for Texas and may even be able to slide his way into the closer role if he looks sharp in Cactus League play. Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports confirmed that Lincecum will join the Rangers.
A person with knowledge of the negotiations says two-time NL Cy Young Award victor Tim Lincecum is in discussions with the Texas Rangers on a one-year deal. The thought of Big Time Timmy Jim in that blue uniform left Giants fans queasy. During his recent showcase for scouts, Lincecum was reportedly throwing in the 90-93 miles per hour range.
After not playing at all in 2017, former Giants ace Tim Lincecum is primed for a comeback.
