West Indies are set to become the latest worldwide team to tour Pakistan. On Sunday, Pakistan's cricket chief Najam Sethi announced, loud and clear, that the country's biggest city will not just play host to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) finale on March 25 but will also be the venue for a three-match Twenty20 global series against a visiting West Indies team next month.
These will be the first worldwide matches in Karachi since the 2009 attacks on the Sri Lanka team bus in Lahore brought global cricket in Pakistan to a virtual halt.
Sethi also said that the games will be Karachi, and not at the Gadaffi Stadium in Lahore. "The reason was that I was in discussion and was working with West Indies Cricket Board day and night and come to a conclusion", he said.
"That is how we intend to put Karachi back on cricket map once again".
Karachi will also host the PSL final on March 25, while Lahore will host two play-off games on March 20 and 21.

Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), have argued that they are at risk of becoming "normalized". This is not the first time Flake has brought up the notion.
Sethi also urged an end to speculations regarding the PSL final in Karachi."The stadium in Karachi will be ready for the PSL final. Karachi people should welcome this", said Sethi of Karachi, where the last worldwide was a Test match against Sri Lanka in February 2009.
Earlier, Lahore was announced as the venue of the West Indies matches but the PCB was encouraged to host the matches outside Lahore after Karachi was declared safe by worldwide security experts last month.
The PCB chairman concluded: "The PSL final, and now three more games for Karachi as per routine". I'll tell you why.
"We have contracted the ICC security people for the series against West Indies". "Their expert will stay back for seven days and conduct the security for West Indies series. That's part of our agreement with the West Indies board". "The details about the venues, dates, financial model will be discussed later but in principle it has decided that three countries will play in the United States of America".
