According to PWInsider, WWE will also be bringing The Undertaker to take part in the event but it is unclear if that means he will be in a match, the Royal Rumble match, or only appearing. Y2J has made sporadic appearances for the company, including returning for the 25th Anniversary of Monday Night Raw, but has not been seen regularly on WWE television since early 2017.
Jericho last wrestled at Wrestle Kingdom 12 in January, where he lost to Kenny Omega. Jericho working for New Japan was a huge moment that no one saw on the horizon as Jericho had not wrestled for anyone but WWE after debuting there in 1999 and had written in one of his autobiographies that he never meant to wrestle anywhere but WWE. While he had talked of appearing for New Japan from time to time as a special attraction, he has since claimed that he will not appear for the promotion going forward. Jericho was asked on Twitter last week if he was done with NJPW, to which he replied, "unfortunately yes".
PWInsider noted that it's not known if the appearance would be a one-off for Jericho, or part of a bigger return.
