Fate of India-US two-plus-two dialogue hangs in balance
Trump announced on Tuesday that he had chosen Haspel to succeed Mike Pompeo, who is the president's pick to replace ousted Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. Majority supported the nomination of John Brennan as Obama's CIA Director and he was up to his eyeballs in torture during the Bush administration just like Haspel was.
Haspel, now the CIA's deputy director, is under fire for her role in the CIA's operation of secret "black sites", including one in Thailand at which she oversaw the waterboarding of prisoners suspected in the September 11 attacks on NY and the Pentagon.
Committee chairman Richard Burr, a Republican, promised to support her nomination and said he was "proud" of her work.

Paul said, "I'm perplexed by the nomination of people who love the Iraq War so much that they would advocate for a war with Iran next". "So, my opposition to her is because of her direct participation in interrogation and her gleeful enjoyment of the suffering of someone being tortured".
