US allies slam Iran for violating UN arms embargo on Yemen
It comes after Russian Federation vetoed a rival resolution that blamed Iran for fueling the conflict there. Iran is also suspected to have supplied Houthi rebels with missiles targeting US ships off the coast of Yemen. On Monday, the resolution gained 11 favorable votes at the 15-member Security Council but was halted by Russia's veto.
He said the Britain-drafted resolution "turned into another setback, particularly for the United States".
The civil war has been devastating on the civilians, as thousands have been killed and millions more are in dire need of aid.
U.S. President Donald Trump is threatening to pull out of the nuclear deal unless it is made stronger and more is done to limit Iran's ballistic-missile activities and involvement in regional conflicts.
China, which abstained from the vote on the United Kingdom draft, sided with the argument, with its envoy saying that the Russian draft "reflects the broadest possible consensus within the Council".

The council earlier heard the United Nations director of aid operations, John Ging, describe living conditions in Yemen as "catastrophic" after three years of war, with a growing risk of starvation and a fierce outbreak of cholera. The UN experts, however, said they were unable to identify the supplier. While the panel accused Iran of flaunting the embargo by "failing to take the necessary measures to prevent the direct or indirect supply", it fell short of identifying the supplier of the weapons.
The UN's independent panel of experts, which monitors the implementation of sanctions, concluded in its most recent report that Iran had failed to prevent weapons transfers to the Houthis. The statement by Western powers condemning Iran on February 27 shows the United States has galvanized the support of major European allies, all of whom signed Iran's 2015 nuclear deal along with Russian Federation and China, for taking action to deter Iran's ballistic-missile activities.
In Yemen, a Saudi-led coalition has been bombing since 2015 Iran-backed Shia Houthi rebels opposed to the internationally recognised government.
