US President would like to create Space Force

"We will call it the space force" President Trump proclaimed

But "we lack that focus for space, one of our major five warfighting domains".

During a speech to military personnel at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego, the U.S. President Donald Trump has proposed to create a "Space Force" as a new branch of U.S. armed forces. The Space Corps, which would relate to the Air Force as the Marine Corps does to the Navy, has been pushed hard by Rep. Mike Rogers, chairman of the House Armed Services strategic forces subcommittee, and his ranking member, Rep. Jim Cooper. There's plenty of room and funding for another division, right?

The idea was initially floated a year ago when the House Armed Service Committee, led by Republican Chairman Mike Rogers and Ranking Member Democrat Jim Cooper, proposed a new branch of the military called the US Space Corps.

Russia operates its Space Forces as part of the Russian Air Force. I was not really serious and then I said what a great idea, maybe we'll have to do that. "Maybe we need to do that". "That could happen. That could be the big breaking story'".

"It's probably time as a country that we start to talk about this", said Heather Wilson, the secretary of the Air Force, adding that in case of an attack on a USA satellite, the military needs a policy in place that "would consider that to be a hostile act".

Very little is certain in sport but as Cheltenham week draws to an end there is one sure thing, this one is going to be a cracker. The big problem for England , though, is not what Jones says, or what Ireland can achieve, but whether they turn up or not.

France calls Skripal poisoning 'disgusting attack,' warns of 'firm' response
French President Emmanuel Macron will act with "firmness" following the "despicable" attack in Britain, a presidential source said.

The military space program has mostly been led by the Air Force.

In a somewhat surreal scenario, President Trump yesterday riffed on the idea of a "Space Force", something he'd clearly been briefed on at some point.

While President Trump may have talked about this, he's certainly not the first to discuss such idea.

"That's unacceptable that we have allowed that to happen, particularly in a day and age when it is essential to have those space capabilities to fight and win wars", he said. You haven't seen that for a long time. You wouldn't have been going to Mars if my opponent had won. "You wouldn't be thinking about it".

The Space Corps' duties would be protecting United States interests in space, deterring aggression in space, providing combat-ready space forces, and organizing, training, and equipping such forces, as well as conducting space operations. "Because we're spending a lot, and we have a lot of private money coming in". The House's version of the 2018 National Defense Authorization Act included provisions for what is to be called Space Corps, but these were later dropped and did not make the final bill. A model for a middle ground solution might be more of a Space Coast Guard than a Space Force, with civilian regulatory responsibilities as well as a military duties.
