Kristen Wiig in talks to play villain Cheetah in Wonder Woman 2
After a recent rumour suggested La La Land actress Emma Stone passed on the opportunity to play Cheetah, one of Wonder Woman's chief antagonists, it hasn't taken Warner Bros. and DC long to find another potential actress.
Deadline reports the Bridesmaids actress is the hot name for the character, meaning both main roles in the superhero sequel will be women.
However, according to Variety's Justin Kroll, director Patty Jenkins handpicked Wiig only after reigning Best Actress Oscar victor Emma Stone passed on the gig.
Describing the role, The Hollywood Reporter writes that Cheetah is a villainess known for her superhuman strength and agility.
By 1985, DC had re-invented Cheetah, turning her into Barbara Minerva, British anthropologist.
Jenkins is coming back to direct the sequel following the massive success of "Wonder Woman" in 2017 with Gal Gadot also set to return as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman.

According to Variety, this role should have first been offered to Emma Stone, but actress oscar victor would ultimately be denied and the director Patty Jenkins would then have been "personally contacted" Kristen Wiig to replace it.
But in her modern incarnation, Cheetah has been molded into something of a funhouse mirror of Wonder Woman's drive and origins. She's never really done anything action-y before, so this will be something new for her, but I can totally buy her as Cheetah, especially flipping between the character's human and cat sides.
She went on to play the Amazon warrior goddess in Wonder Woman and Justice League. When she emerged from the river, she found herself at the steps of a temple where a ritual was being performed.
