All MPs of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) will resign immediately if Parliament is adjourned sine die without an announcement over the issue of special status to Andhra Pradesh, a party leader said on Monday.

YSRC Parliamentary Party leader Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy said that the decision was taken during a meeting chaired by party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in Guntur district.

He asked the MPs not to wait until April 6 and to submit their resignations as and when the Lok Sabha is announced sine die until the next session.

The Opposition on Monday upped the ante against the government with several parties joining the Congress in submitting their own notices for a no-confidence motion instead of just backing the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the YSR Congress on such a move. Resignations will be in the Speaker format. The assessment within the party is that the session could be cut short.

"We thought that this would be a better way to go about it to drive home the message that it is not just the representatives of Andhra Pradesh who have lost confidence in this government but also people from across the country", N.K. Premachandran of the RSP told The Telegraph.
