Salman Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan misses the Rs 300 crore mark by a whisker in China
So much so, that it is all set to hit Rs 300 crore at the China box office. Considering the fact that Aamir Khan's Dangal grossed almost $3.5 million to become the highest-grossing Indian film in Hong Kong, Secret Superstar is likely to register good numbers and will take the film's running total past Rs 900 crore.
According to Taran Adarsh, Bajrangi Bhaijaan concluded its lifetime run in China by collecting Rs 295.32-crore. Now, the running global total of the film stands at Rs 905.3 crore with the overall foreign box-office receipts amounting to $74.3 million (Rs 483.2 crore).
During Bajrangi Bhaijaan's release, Jyoti Deshpande, Group CEO of Eros International, said, "China has emerged as an important market and major box office earner for Indian films in recent years, what with the recent success of Dangal".
Chinese audiences have really caught the fancy of Indian films all thanks to Aamir Khan. It's also one of the nine import films which earned above 200 million yuan this year in the world's second-largest movie market. So going by the rule, Bajrangi Bhaijaan is enjoying its last day at the Chinese theatres today. Now, Secret Superstar is heading for a release in Hong Kong.
