Tepees up for rent on Airbnb near Santa Fe
The customers will have their details passed on by the platform to the government as soon as they accept the booking.
The data Airbnb will share with Chinese authorities includes dates of the bookings and passport details.
Hotels in China are already required to share their guest information with the government and local police.
"Like all businesses operating in China, Airbnb China must comply with local laws and regulations", said Airbnb spokesman Jake Wilczynski.
Airbnb is one of the few western tech companies that's managed to gain momentum in China, where it has 150,000 active listings and has forged agreements with local authorities in cities including Shenzhen and Shanghai.
And tourists and travellers staying in private homes are also technically supposed to register their accommodation details with the police within 24 hours of arriving at a destination.
A spokesperson for Airbnb said that information they are collecting is similar to data the hotels across China have been collecting for decades.

Airbnb China have admitted that storing information of all its users is not a new process.
"We're committed to doing all we can to keep our hosts and guests informed about our work in China and we recently updated our hosts about our requirements under the law".
Airbnb says that its local entity for China already stores the data and would just share it with authorities upon request.
It said the only change was that it would now be proactively sharing that data with authorities once bookings were made.
The company sent out an email to its hosts in China on Thursday that advised them their information would now be shared with the Chinese government starting Friday.
Some hosts are unhappy about this new measure but the platform gave them the option to de-list their apartment if they wished to do so.
It launched its operation in China back in 2016 to help facilities Chinese mainland bookings. This week, it sent an e-mail to hosts declaring it may disclose their information at any time - those with concerns were given a link to deactivate their listing.
