Arabian Nights-inspired 'City of Brass' launches on Xbox One in May

BioShock veterans at Uppercut Games have announced that the upcoming Arabian Nights-inspired game, City of Brass, will be heading to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC this May. The game, which sees players venturing into a mythological land in search of a fabled treasure, is billed as being a mix of "lash-and-slash" and conventional adventure gameplay.

Unlike the Prince of Persia games it throws serious nods at, everything in City of Brass happens from a first person perspective, right down to the melee combat that switches into fluid freestyle movement.

Leaping from the pages of the Arabian Nights, adventure awaits in the accursed City of Brass - a place of legend beneath the sand, filled with danger and reward.

Collect treasure to increase your score, plunder chests for weapon and armor upgrades or powerful relics - but make it to the exit in time or face death by dervish... The whip also has the ability to turn City of Brass' unsafe environment against itself.

Four Pakistani Christians Killed In Attack Claimed By Islamic State

Players will have to leap across pits, slide under blades, avoid spears or arrows, evade or employ sprung paving slabs, and skirt round poison gas traps - all the while manipulating these dangers to their advantage against enemies.

Players will be able to tailor the challenges to their own liking via the Blessings and Burdens system, which lets them tweak values like player health, damage output and item costs. Armed with scimitar and whip, players must nab as much treasure as they can and find a way to break the curse. While the blade is straightforward enough, the bullwhip gives players many more options.

If I had to describe City of Brass to a skeptical bystander, I'd begin by telling them to stop censoriously waving their finger, and just listen.
