They rallied from a 15-point deficit in the third quarter and were down five in the final 1:58. Mississippi All-American Teaira McCowan fouled out with three seconds left in regulation. McCowan then fouled out of the game stopping an Irish fastbreak and set up the final 3 seconds.
A 3-pointer by Vivians ran the lead to 40-25 with 6:41 left in the third quarter.

Victoria Vivians led MSU with 21 points. Fifth-year senior Kristina Nelson's 11 minutes were all the Irish had off the bench versus UConn - and her two taken charges in the fourth quarter were huge in Notre Dame's victory.
