Damaged Rogers Centre roof leads to rare missed home game for Blue Jays

The ice storm that has been ravaging the city of Toronto for the past three days has forced the CN Tower to close on Monday and has now put the Toronto Blue Jays game against the Kansas City Royals at the Rogers Centre in jeopardy.

The team tweeted earlier Monday that it was working to fix the hole, which was caused by a piece of ice falling from the neighboring CN Tower.

The two teams will play a traditional doubleheader Tuesday with the first game starting at 3:07 pm.

The Blue Jays have tarps set in right field to trap the incoming snow and ice, but the police will have to deem the area safe if ice large enough to break the Rogers Centre's roof is falling from the CN Tower.

We gave them the opportunity to win. "I have won titles, I would not be happy if someone say won title if someone lose a match". That moment came in the 73rd minute when Jay Rodriguez finished off a wayward header by United's Nemanja Matic on the corner.

The CN Tower has been closed due to the extreme weather following reports of chunks of ice falling off the tower, endangering buildings and passengers below.

Multiple reporters have posted photos on social media of the hole, which has caused leaking onto Rogers Centre's turf field. Toronto's game against the Royals is clearly in question as the Blue Jays investigate whether they can actually play today. Monday's games between the Orioles-Red Sox and Cardinals-Cubs were also postponed, bringing MLB's season total to 24 so far.

This marks the third straight postponement for the Blue Jays, who also had games against the Indians postponed Saturday and Sunday because of inclement weather in Cleveland.
