Body of last missing family member found in California river
A team on a boat smelled gasoline about half a mile downstream from where the crash was reported and found the SUV.
Searchers on Monday found the body of a 12-year-old boy in a Northern California river - the last of four family members who perished when their sport utility vehicle plunged into the rain-swollen torrent.
The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office said Monday that searchers located the vehicle Sunday and recovered the bodies of 41-year-old Sandeep Thottapilly and 9-year-old Saachi Thottapilly.
A team of more than 20 searchers discovered the auto lying submerged between 4 and 6 feet of water and found the bodies inside the vehicle, the sheriff's office said.
"Once the body was recovered it was identified as being Siddhant Thottapilly, the remaining missing member of the Thottapilly family".
Sandeep Thottapilly, 41, and Saachi Thottapilly, 9, were found dead inside the vehicle.
On Sunday, 70 searchers using Jet Skis, boats and kayaks worked along the river in an ongoing effort to find the vehicle and family.

Investigators have found and identified the bodies of three family members who vanished while on a road trip from OR to California. They were reported missing April 8 after failing to show up for a visit with relatives in San Jose.

It says the vehicle was encased in sediment but that divers were able to feel a person inside the auto. The body of Sandeep's wife, Soumya, was recovered on Friday.
Sandeep was a Vice-President at Union Bank, while Soumya was a stay-at-home parent.
The family was on a road trip to Portland, Oregon and coming back to their home in California, when they went missing.
A poster shared by friends and family on Facebook said their last known location was the "Klamath-Redwood National Park area". The crash happened just days after authorities in Washington state opened an investigation following allegations the children were being neglected.
Allman said both Jennifer and Sarah were wearing seat belts while the three children found near the vehicle were not. A body was pulled from the surf April 7 but has not been identified.
