It looks like Warner Bros.is lining up their next superhero movie.

Cathy Yan is in early talks to direct Margot Robbie in the next Harley Quinn movie, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

If the deal is finalized, Yan will become the first female Asian director to helm a superhero film, and will join Wonder Woman's Patty Jenkins as only the second woman to direct a DC Films feature. She made her feature film debut with this year's Dead Pigs, which screened at Sundance and won the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Ensemble Acting at the 2018 festival.

Harley Quinn has found her director.

The movie follows the "Birds of Prey" comic book storyline, which teams up Harley Quinn with fellow female crimefighters Batgirl aka Barbara Gordon, Black Canary, and Huntress.

Robbie's LuckyChap is producing with Sue Kroll and her Kroll & Co Entertainment, along with Bryan Unkeless of Clubhouse Pictures.

Christina Hodson, who was recently tapped to pen the "Batgirl" pic, wrote the script.

Production on the untitled tentpole is expected to begin late this year or in early 2019. Robbie is also set to appear as Harley Quinn in "Suicide Squad 2", directed by Gavin O'Connor, and David Ayer's "Gotham City Sirens".
