Seven candidates were suggested to a federal judge on Wednesday to potentially review materials seized in an FBI raid of President Donald Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen's home and office last week, according to Politico.
Cohen's lawyers requested both a temporary restraining order and a preliminary injunction against the USA government. Cohen also proposed, as an alternative, that an independent lawyer, or special master, review the files first.
Lawyers separately representing Cohen's and Trump's interests first asked the United States district court in Manhattan to block the Justice Department from reviewing the seized communications last week.
Judge Kimba Wood has instructed prosecutors to send copies of the seized material to Cohen while she considers how to vet the documents and electronic devices for attorney-client privilege.
On Monday, Wood denied the temporary restraining order because lawyers representing the Manhattan US attorney's office said they have not looked substantively at the documents that were obtained.
Wood has yet to rule on what protocol will be used to review the material.

Attorneys for Trump and Cohen have said that they will have the ability to assess the seized materials for possible liberty, while prosecutors have claimed they desire their own "taint team" to manage the inspection.
She warned that Cohen's team will need to "move very fast" to determine which materials it believes should be withheld, adding that it was "a test" for them.
Wood's decision came exactly a week after the raid, which was reportedly carried out in search of records connected to payments issued to two women, Karen McDougal and Stephanie Clifford (Clifford is an adult performer under the name Stormy Daniels), who allegedly had affairs with Trump prior to his seeking office.
