Rachel Maddow's interview with former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey tonight included the revelations that he thought Donald Trump might not tell the truth about their interactions, that there was an "orchestrated campaign" against him and deputy director Andrew McCabe, and that Trump claimed Vladimir Putin told him Russian Federation had the "most attractive hookers in the world".

Days later, Trump's chief of staff asked if Flynn's communications were being monitored under a secret surveillance warrant.

The 15 pages of leaked documents contained new details about Comey's interactions with Trump that he found so unnerving that Comey documented them in writing.

At a meeting in Trump Tower in NY just days before Mr Trump's inauguration in January 2017, Mr Comey spoke alone with the then president-elect about details of an alleged encounter involving prostitutes in Russian Federation. The chairman issued a statement late Thursday saying the memos show that Comey clearly never felt obstructed or threatened. The public will likely see a version from which classified information is redacted. "Will the Witch Hunt continue?", Trump said in a Tweet.

The Department of Justice sent redacted versions of Comey's memos to Congress on Thursday.

"I did not comment at any point during this topic and there was no mention or acknowledgment of any Federal Bureau of Investigation interest in or contact with General Flynn", Comey wrote. The president approved the transmission after reviewing the recommendations from top Justice Department officials, Garrett reports.

Comey has described President Trump as such in interviews for his new book, "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership". "I don't even dislike Donald Trump", Comey told CNN's Jake Tapper. Mr Trump strongly denies Mr Comey's account.

United Kingdom plans for Irish border subjected to "a systematic and forensic annihilation"
A separate, non-legally binding document setting out the parameters of the future UK-EU relationship will sit alongside it. This would remove the possibility of a hard border in Northern Ireland , but it is opposed by hardline Conservative MPs.

Barclays chief acted without "due skill and care"
As a result, Barclays is unable to comment further on the warning notices or any discussions with the FCA and PRA. New York's Department of Financial Services was also looking into Staley's behaviour.

Manchester City players dominate English Premier League's team of the season
But we need to wait to find out who takes the ultimate prize as Bruyne and Salah go head-to-head for the Player of the Year award. The Egyptian's Anfield team-mates Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane miss out though, much to the surprise of the Liverpool Echo .

"I did not reply, or ask him what he meant by 'that thing, '" wrote Comey, who added that as Trump ended the call, the president told him he was "doing a great job and wished me well".

"The President said the "hookers thing" is nonsense but that Putin had told him "we have some of the most handsome hookers in the world" (He did not say when Putin had told him this)", Comey wrote. To illustrate that, Trump told a story about Flynn interrupting him when he was saying British Prime Minister Theresa May had called him first to congratulate him on the election to say another world leader had called first, and that he'd called back six days later.

After Trump fired Comey, he told the New York Times he felt the former Federal Bureau of Investigation director was trying to use the dossier information as leverage. Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd said the Justice Department made a decision to do so after determining their release "would not adversely impact any ongoing investigation".

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Robert Goodlatte, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes and House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy suggest the memos "would be Defense Exhibit A" if Trump were charged with obstruction of justice. Comey will be a key witness in the question of whether Trump obstructed justice by firing him.

Several news outlets published the memos Thursday night.

Boyd writes that the department "consulted the relevant parties" and concluded that releasing the memos would not adversely affect any ongoing investigations.

"President Trump's interference was a blatant effort to disclaim justice, and Director Comey was proper to doc it because it occurred - in actual time", Cummings stated.
