In the press conference, Warner appeared to cast doubts over his future in general in the game, when he responded to being asked if he was considering retirement by saying: "That's something I will continue to sit down with my family and weigh up all the options before making any decision". Both Warner and Smith have been banned for a year, while Bancroft was issued a nine-month ban following the third Test against South Africa.
The financial repercussions continued for the players, with all three losing sponsorship deals, and for Cricket Australia, who lost a major partner when Magellan Financial Group Ltd binned a three-year team naming rights deal after seven months.
