The chief of the global chemical weapons watchdog says it remains unclear when a team of its experts can visit the Syrian town of Douma to investigate an alleged deadly chemical weapon attack. Saudi Arabia is also a member of the US -led coalition battling IS militants.
United Nations representatives promptly disputed Russia's claim, saying there are no security concerns preventing a visit and the inspectors should be given access to Douma as quickly as possible.
The French government said Tuesday that it was "highly likely" evidence would "disappear" from the site of a suspected chemical attack in Syria before weapons experts arrive in the area.
De Bretton-Gordon also said that his contacts in Douma have ominously informed him that "doctors from the suburb had been taken in recent days into central Damascus for briefings, and not returned".
It is not clear when an Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons fact-finding mission will be able to travel safely to Douma, Syria, the British ambassador to the body said on Wednesday.
Russian Federation told the UNSC on Tuesday there was no point establishing a new inquiry to determine blame for chemical weapons attacks in Syria because the USA and its allies had already acted as judge and executioner.
The inspectors arrived in Damascus on the day of the Western strikes but had not been allowed to enter Douma.

The French leader was also set to strip Syrian President Bashar al-Assad of a prestigious award he was granted by former president Jacques Chirac in 2001.
Journalists in Damascus were prevented by government minders from contacting the OPCW inspectors, and The Hague-based organization refused to comment on "operational details regarding the Douma deployment".
U.S. State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said Tuesday the U.S. did not believe the inspectors had entered Douma, and that the evidence was at risk of decaying as delays dragged on.
