Dhoni receives India's third highest civilian award

As his name was announced, Dhoni marched past the dignitaries present at the Rashtrapati Bhavan before receiving the honour from President Ram Nath Kovind. After losing the fourth wicket of Kohli, Dhoni had something else in mind as he made a decision to come up the order ahead of Yuvraj Singh.

Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni with Indian cueist Pankaj Advani have been awarded the Padma Bhushan on Monday.

Dressed in the perfectly-fitted official uniform of the Territorial Army for the ceremony, Dhoni, who holds the rank of Honorary Lieutenant Colonel, marched up to the President to receive the award.

People from different walks of life were awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award, during the ceremony. It is preceded by the Bharat Ratna and the Padma Vibhushan and followed by the Padma Shri. Dhoni brought the World Cup back to India after a drought of 28 years.

For those who may have forgotten, it was on this day in 2011, Mahendra Singh Dhoni guided India to a World Cup triumph with that historic six at the Wankhede Stadium.

Dhoni (91 not out off 79 balls) then promoted himself up the order ahead of the in-form Yuvraj Singh (21 not out) to play a captain's knock that remains etched in the memory of cricket fans. They took it to Twitter to express their delight and congratulated him for the glory.
