With the Cauvery issue appearing to be snowballing into an embarrassment for the ruling AIADMK the party made an announcement on observing the hunger strike next week
Seeking to make his party's position clear, Thambidruai, a senior AIADMK leader from Western Tamil Nadu, said such a no- trust move would however be only for the Cauvery issue.
The Tamilnadu government on Saturday filed a contempt petition in the Supreme Court against the Central government.
Tamil Nadu had sought contempt action against the Centre for "failure" to frame the scheme for constitution of the Cauvery Management Board and the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee within six weeks, as directed by the apex court on February 16. "We are ready to bring it. Let Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi issue a statement (indicating support), they (DMK) are in alliance with them (Congress). only if they (Congress) support, we will get the (requisite) numbers", he said.
Earlier, the Supreme Court gave a six-week deadline to the Centre to formulate the Cauvery Management Board (CMB), which ended on Thursday.

The two entities Cauvery Management Board and Cauvery Water Regulation Committee would have to oversee smooth functioning and the rights of the states as determined by it are protected. "It has not taken any concrete steps in this regard", Tamil Nadu contended.
