All lanes were blocked as of 8:15 a.m. - one lane opened by 10 a.m.

All eastbound lanes on Hwy 401 in Mississauga have been shut down after three transport trucks, an SUV, and a sedan crashed early Thursday morning.

The on ramps from Trafalgar Road to Highway 401 are also closed.

"No serious injuries, which is spectacular", Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said on a video through Periscope.

An ambulance helicopter arrived at the scene to treat and transport the patient. He was taken to St. Michael's Hospital for treatment. As of now, the eastbound highway is closed from Trafalgar Rd.to Highway 407.

He said that four vehicles sustained "significant damage" while a few others sustained "less severe damage". One of those people was initially trapped in their vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency crews, according to Schmidt.

One driver in the second accident has serious injuries. "Looking at the damage it certainly could have been far worse".

Police have not yet said when the lanes will be reopened, but Schmidt said "it's going take us a little while to get this all swept up, cleaned up and removed".
