Labour was in meltdown over anti Semitism last night after its disciplinary chief Christine Shawcroft resigned for opposing the suspension of an apparent Holocaust denier
Richard Angell, director of Progress - Labour's centre-left movement added: "Christine Shawcroft trying to blame her disgusting defence of a Holocaust denier on the press shows how little regard the Momentum leadership of the party have for Britain's Jewish Community and that the party's words on "zero-tolerance on anti-Semitism" are not worth the paper they are written on".
She was forced to stand down from her position on Labour's disputes panel on Wednesday, after she sent an email calling for a council candidate accused of Holocaust denial to have his suspension lifted.
And in a further development today, in a post on her Facebook page she claimed the anti-Semitism row is being "stirred up" to attack Jeremy Corbyn.
Sir David Garrard, who has supported the party under three leaders before Mr Corbyn and donated around £1.5million since 2003, has chose to leave Labour because the party he supported "no longer exists".
Ms Shawcroft said she had "not seen the appalling and abhorrent post" and wouldn't have sent a supportive if she had.
Last week Facebook comments by the Labour Leader emerged from 2012 in which he opposed the removal of the mural by graffiti artist Mear One in London's East End came to light.
On Friday, Mr Corbyn issued a Passover message insisting he is an "ally" in the fight against anti-Semitism.
Wes Streeting, a Labour MP who has been demanding Labour take tougher action on anti-Semitism, told BuzzFeed News: "Even when confronted with example after example of ugly anti-Semitism within the Labour Party, even having been caught red-handed defending a Holocaust denier, Christine Shawcroft still dismisses genuine concerns about anti-Semitism".

Insiders say Labour's quasi-judicial disciplinary process prevents cases being dealt with rapidly.
