We knew that Disney has been planning to launch its standalone ESPN streaming service this spring and how much it will cost, but now we have details as to when the service will launch. For example, ESPN+ will feature an Major League Baseball and NHL game each day during the regular season, totaling more than 180 games for each sport.

The streaming service will be integrated into the ESPN app. ESPN Plus will provide sports lovers with "thousands of live sports events". Subscribers will be able to watch live events from sports like MLB, NHL, MLS, boxing, golf, tennis, rugby, cricket and several college teams.

While much of the hype surrounding the ESPN+ release is centered around the inclusion of live professional sports, including the potential to add-on out-of-market Major League Baseball and NHL games, there is an impact for college sports viewers as well. A similar National Hockey League package will be available beginning next season.
