East Tennessee State University announced earlier this morning that its head football coach, Randy Sanders, had been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
East Tennessee State is slated to take on UT Saturday, September 8. According to the WJHL website, Sanders was placed on leave "pending an investigation of potential violation of university policy".
A native of Morristown, Tennessee, Sanders was primarily a backup quarterback when he played at UT from 1984 to 1988.

She was married to Nelson Mandela for 38 years, during 27 of which he was imprisoned by the minority-white apartheid regime. She had been a member of Parliament ever since despite limited appearances in Parliament in the past few years.
Sanders was hired December 17 to replace Carl Torbush, who announced his retirement at the end of the 2017 season.
Sanders was co-offensive coordinator at Florida State on Jimbo Fisher's staff last season. A former quarterback for the Vols, Sanders was a Tennessee offensive assistant for various positions from 1989-98, before serving as the school's offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach from 1998-2005.
With Sanders on leave, ETSU now has lost its head coach and offensive coordinator as it finishes spring practice.
