A Ferrari mechanic suffered a fractured shinbone and fibula after accidentally being run over by Kimi Raikkonen during the Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday.
As the Finn accelerated out of the pits, he clattered into one his mechanics who was working on his rear-left tyre.
Raikkonen pulled up immediately - and retired from the race - after frantic calls to do so over the team radio, while the mechanic received treatment in the pit lane.
"A bit sad because one of our mechanics got injured", Vettel said.
Meanwhile Raikkonen's auto was dragged away from the pit lane.
Cigarini was taken to the circuit medical centre on a stretcher after the incident.
