The affected vehicles may have an automatic transmission gear shift cable locking clip that is not fully seated.
The first recall affects almost 350,000 F-150 and Expedition models with 10-speed automatic transmissions, as well as F-650 and F-750 models with six-speed transmissions. The FCA recall problem was a transmission shifter position indicator that didn't reflect the actual gear the vehicle was in. The company says a driver might be able to shift into park and remove the key while the transmission is in another gear, allowing unintended movement.
In a statement, Ford said it's aware of one reported injury related to this malfunction.
Of a total of 347,425 vehicles, 292,909 were sold in the United States and federalized territories, 51,742 in Canada, and 2,774 in Mexico.

This is a concern because if the parking brake is not applied, then the vehicle could rollaway, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
To correct the problem, Ford says: "Dealers will inspect and verify that the shift cable locking clip was properly installed". The first recall is for a faulty gear shift cable clip and the other involves a missing transmission roll pin.

Ford is also recalling a smaller number of vehicles - fewer than 500 2017-18 Ford F-150s, 2018 Ford Expeditions, 2018 Lincoln Navigators and 2018 Ford Mustangs - that are equipped with the model 10R80 transmission.
Ford announced two safety recalls Friday affecting about 350,000 of its popular-selling pickups and full-size sport utility vehicles.
If the pin is missing, with repeated use, the transmission may eventually lose park function even when the shifter and instrument panel display indicate the vehicle is in park.
The Ford reference number for this recall is 18S09.
In that recall, dealers are to inspect the transmissions and install the roll pin, which attaches the park pawl rod guide cup to the transmission case.
