Ex-Playboy Model Can Now Discuss Alleged Trump Affair After Being Freed From Contract

Karen McDougal says the settlement Wednesday with the National Enquirer's parent company "restores to me the rights to my life story".

Under the agreement, McDougal can keep the $150,000 she was paid. Stormy Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, is suing Mr. Trump and his personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, over a non-disclosure agreement she claims is invalid because Mr. Trump didn't sign it. Cohen has admitted to paying her $130,000 in 2016, a payment Mr. Trump has claimed he was unaware of at the time. (AMI), freeing her from the deal for the exclusive rights to her story, The New York Times reported.

Mr. Stris said on Wednesday that before reaching the settlement he was prepared to answer American Media's motion to dismiss Ms. McDougal's case with a request for a limited version of pretrial discovery, in which both sides would have been compelled to share emails and other records that could have provided information about the deal from inside American Media that would not be available through the material the F.B.I. seized from Mr. Cohen.

McDougal told the New York Times she now has no plans to re-sell her story but, is doing her "victory dance" in light of her legal victory.

AMI had sought to have McDougal's case dismissed in court, but that was before last week's Federal Bureau of Investigation raids on Cohen's home and office, reportedly seeking documents on McDougal, among other topics.

"It's a total win", Mr. Stris said in an interview.

The suit also claimed that Mr. Cohen had been secretly involved in the talks between A.M.I. and Ms. McDougal's lawyer at the time, Keith Davidson - who emailed Mr. Cohen at the end of the talks.
