
Oklahoma teachers to walk off job over pay, shut schools statewide

The red-state teachers rebellion that started in West Virginia continues to grow, with teachers in Kentucky and Oklahoma walking out on Monday after the Kentucky teachers shut down schools in almost two dozen counties on Friday. Several schools in Kentucky were forced to close Friday as teachers left classrooms to head to the statehouse to protest school pension reform.
And there's no end to the walkout in sight.
Many Oklahoma schools were closed Monday, and districts announced plans to stay shut into Tuesday with teacher demonstrations expected to last a second day.
