The farm of former Zimbabwe First Lady, Grace Mugabe sits on gold deposits and it is a secret known to illegal miners who have now swooped on it. She told police the people were loitering and posed a threat to her children's home. It is also a marked turn of fortunes for the once powerful couple that rubber-stamped and oversaw the often violent seizure of white-owned farms in the country in 2000.

At the farm, truckloads were carrying ore, leaving behind a scarred landscape with citrus fruits dying.

Grace was shocked on Thursday when she visited the farm to find the illegal miners, who didn't come to tend her farm, but to explore for gold ore.

"You don't tell us to leave, we are just workers".

According to New Zimbabwe.com, Grace Mugabe confronted the invaders but the alleged gold miners were reluctant to move and instead threw profanities at the former first lady.

"I then asked them to stop their activities since I am the owner of the farm and I am the holder of a special grant for the whole area. The illegal activities have since destroyed my irrigation infrastructure, which feeds lemons pool section, and there is massive land degradation", the former first lady's police statement reads, according to a Business Live report.

At the invaded Smithfield farm‚ property worth thousands of dollars that includes state-of-the-art irrigation equipment was damaged and farming equipment was stolen by the illegal gold panners‚ Mugabe claimed in a police report filed at Mazowe police station.

The UFC's May 27 card in Liverpool, England, is getting a serious helping of Canadian content. To say that the debacle sent shockwaves through the MMA community would be an understatement.

But the rumours were not welcomed by parts of the ruling party and Mugabe was ousted from office in November, to be replaced by his long-time ally Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Although Mugabe has indicated a willingness to engage with Mnangagwa - his protégé-turned-tormentor - he has been insistent that the present administration is in power "illegally".

Ms Mugabe was referencing a song closely associated with President Mnangagwa's rise to power with the help of Zimbabwe's military.

She said: "Does it mean that if President [Emmerson] Mnangagwa is removed tomorrow, he will be disposed of his investments?"

"This is politically motivated, as you can see that when we got there, they were singing kutonga kwaro garwe".

'Is this how he wants to be treated with his investments?

The farm was allocated to Grace during her husband's presidency.
