Samsung is experimenting time to time with it's smartphones, sometimes with the design of phone and some times with the interface. But alas, it appears as though old habits can be hard to kick.

Samsung is Apple's exclusive OLED supplier for the X, as the only company with enough capacity to keep up with Apple's demands. What is most interesting is that there is no fingerprint sensor visible on the front or back, which could mean that the phone does not have one, or Samsung has finally figured out how to implement an under-display fingerprint sensor. That makes sense, of course, since it's a design feature that Apple popularized. It's a feature that is really selling like hotcakes as you name a brand and they're incorporating it. Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, Asus are few brands among others that have taken it upon themselves to flood the market with iPhone X-like clones. Apple has also reportedly started production on its 3D facial sensors this quarter, earlier than might be expected. Among its numerous designs, the company has developed a model that closely resembled the iPhone X's notch.

Samsung is so committed to the Infinity screen design, we thought we might escape seeing yet another iPhone X copycat emerge from the world's leading smartphone maker.

Now, a Samsung patent filed in China's state intellectual property office (SIPO) has surfaced online suggesting that the South Korean company is reverting to old ways.

Love it or hate it, display notches on smartphones are now being adopted by more manufacturers thanks to the Essential Phone and the iPhone X. Now it looks like Samsung may be planning on jumping the bandwagon despite mocking the Cupertino giant at first.

It has to be noted everything that gets registered in a patent office may not make it into the final device that hits the market as companies' sometimes tend to make several designs for reference goal before finalizing the actual product.
