Kidz on Drugz, King OverDosed, and Kill our Demonz are the three meanings for K.O.D. with each being tied together by Cole's derisive outlook on the different sides of drug addiction.
The illustrated cover features Cole with a crown, alongside elements like skulls and children doing drugs inside of his robe. Judging from the artwork, the forthcoming 12-track project looks to take aim at the current drug-addicted subculture we see in Hip-Hop. "This album is no way meant to glorify addiction", reads the fine print above Cole's head. A song by kiLL edward was uploaded to Spotify this year, and it features a voice that is strikingly similar to Cole's. On the back cover, the children ride a trippy magic carpet of pill bottles and bags of weed alongside the track list, which features songs like title track "KOD", "Kevin's Heart", and "Once an Addict". With no cover art, and less than two minutes of singing, you wouldn't think that there'd be very much to go on, but to many fans, kiLL edward's secret identity is obvious: it's J. Cole. Cole recently cleared his Instagram feed of all his previous posts before announcing that he is dropping the new album at a free pop up show in New York City on Monday night. KOD will be J. Cole's first album since 2016's 4 Your Eyez Only.
